Dry and half dry white wine market

With 92000 hl commercialized every year (12 to 13 million of bootles), Loire Valley Chenin dry and half dry wines are a niche market. It represents 3% of the French white wine market (excluding sweet wines).

Two thirds of the Loire Valley Chenin wines volumes are distributed in France, mostly in the restaurant Industry, cellar men shops and directly to the property. Sales in supermarket represents only 10% of the distribution (based on InterLoire data).

Vouvray is the most exported appellation. This appellation is highly notorious for the American drinkers, being around in the United States for several decades. The fisrt Loire Valley Chenin world markets are North America, United Kingdoms and Belgium.

With bottles of Savennieres and Jasnieres sold to large retailers with and average of more than 8€/the bootle, Loire Valley appellations are part of the premium dry and half dry white wine range.Their main competitors are Centre Loire wines (Sancerre, Pouilly Fumé and Menetou Salon).

Then, we have the other appellations from Loire Valley located in the heart of the market. Prices goes from 4.70€ to 6.60€ the bottle, the average market being 5.82€. Their main competitors are the Centre Loire wines ( Bourgogne and Alsace).
