Coteaux de l’Aubance is a sweet white wine produced on the Aubance banks, a Loire tributary.

Conducive soil and climate

The appellation area spreads out over 10 towns on both sides of the Aubance river. Located in Tralze’s south mining area, it brings out the mineral taste thanks to the slate veins  - slate ground through the Loire and on the Coteaux d Aubance. Getting light rain, the well exposed and ventilated schist soils offer perfect conditions to the early vegetation allowing to obstain overmatured grape harvest getting < Noble rot >

 

Coteaux d’Aubance history

Coteaux de l’Aubance appeared at the end of the 19th century. Three quarters of the Anjou vineyard were destroyed because of a phylloxera crisis. Due to this crisis, local wine makers looked for undamaged parcels to plant some Chenin Blanc vines.

 

Coteaux de l’Aubance wines

Chenin Blanc is favourable to « Noble Rot » development, which gives to Coteaux de l’Aubance some white flower flavours or fruit with white or yellow flesh. These are elegant wines, fresh and delicate with a perfect balance between sweetness and vivacity.

 

Exceptional wine and food pairings

You can conserve these wines in bottles up to 10 years and even more according to some great vintages. It goes perfectly with white meat such as lamb or chicken and also with dessert and pastries. During summer, this wine can be served with some fruit like strawberries, peaches or melon. The most perfect and classical pair would be to serve it for an aperitif with foie gras pate or fried foie gras
